Lost Covers, by Edna Turpin. Random House NY for the Junior Literary Guild, [Juvi book]

Robin, a young stamp collector, is lead on a discovery of Confederate provisional stamps and their history. Actual covers illustrate the story, written in 1937, and the true-life collector whose covers provide the 'mystery' plays a pivotal role in the story. Read more about this book in an article by Denise Hatton in Linn's Stamp News, 16 Feb 98 (v.71, issue 3616).

A Mystery Box Reader comments: The story is about several children who are stamp collectors and discover a magic way to place yourself on a stamp to travel around the world. Several of the children travel from Canada to China and back and eventually solve the mystery of one of their long-lost relatives.

From The Editor: We bought this video as a "family" gift and had great fun watching it. Stamp collectors will chuckle at the classic dealers at the shop, the "know-it-all" Kids Stamp Club president, and other "inside" views of the hobby. But what will really stick is the wonder of learning that comes alive through stamps. For me, the "visit" to China was most memorable, followed closely by the lessons learned through the Canadian "Bluenose" episode. Much recommended!

The Bluenose is the nick-name of the the quite famous Canadian fifty cent definitive stamp issued in 1929 that carries the dashing image of a fishing vessel of the same name.
