THE HIDDEN IMAGE IS A MAP OF LAOS

These four stamps issued by the (then) Kingdom of Laos in 1963 are pieces of a puzzle which, when placed in the right order display a map of the kingdom in the background. The designs for the four stamps show the Royal Palace, Luang Prabang (Scott 95); the Buddha of Vat Pra Keo (Scott 93); Ceremonial Cup and Horn (Scott 92); and people led by a soldier (Scott 94)This last stamp reminds us that Laos, though "neutral and constitutional", in 1963 was being drawn into a wider Southeast Asian war.
